This air cleaner is designed after the popular K&N Xtreme Flow Air Cleaners. K&N and American Speed and Racing (ASR) filters are constructed using virtually the same cotton gauze filter element. The round filter element construction is nearly exactly the same in both appearance and performance.
However, that is where the similarities end.
The ASR HI-FLOW lid uses all-steel and aluminum construction around the filter element making it the most durable and heat-resistant available. The ASR lids flat design (compared to K&N pyramid/cone shape) reduces the amount of turbulent air that can flow into the air cleaner.
